The Heart of Darkness needed to feel dangerous and oppressive so I wanted to develop something that took over the sky and felt alive rather than just clouds or something. I also really wanted it to move. The coils concept struck a chord with our narrative team and they wanted to incorporate the claws on the heart with the coils behind it to make it all feel like one creature with a soft spot you could strike during gameplay.
