I tried to make the cones pop out from the terrain, so they have some brighter values and in the crevasses some rich cyan to contrast the reds.

Mars HiRise - Cones formed by lava flowing over ice

These cones were formed from lava flowing over ice. Some errors in the cone height DEM caused me to choose to run an erosion filter over the peaks. So those flowing lines on the slopes might not be there in actuality.

Standing on the shoulders of giants. These artworks were created using DEM information gathered by the HIRISE, or High Resolution Imaging Experiment, Mars reconnaissance Orbiter. The information was processed and minimally enhanced in Quadspinner's Gaea, then all maps were exported for assembly, texturing and rendering in Clarisse. Small photoshop enhancements.
